Printing Your Output.
In PowerPoint, you can print your entire presentation ¾ the slides,
outline, speaker's notes, and audience handouts. You can print copies
of your slides on paper or on overhead transparencies. Or you can create
slides using a desktop film recorder or create a file to ship by modem
to a service bureau that can then create slides. You need to identify
the range of slides to be printed, and the number of copies.
- Choose File/Print.
The Print dialog box appears.
- Select what you want to print in the Print What box.
Your choices are:
- Slides - prints your slides on paper or overhead transparencies,
one image per page.
- Slides (with builds) - prints each phase of a build slide
as a separate page, starting with the title, then each major bullet
item with its accompanying text.
- Slides (without builds) - prints one page per build slide.
- Notes Pages - prints the speaker's notes pages that correspond
to the slide numbers you request.
- Handouts (2 slides per page) - prints two slide
images per page.
- Handouts (3 slides per page) - prints three slide
images per page.
- Handouts (6 slides per page) - prints six slide
images per page.
- Outline View - prints your outline according to how your
outline appears on-screen in Outline view.
- In the Copies box, type the number of copies you want to
print.
- Select the range of slides or notes pages to be printed.
- All - prints all the slides in the presentation.
- Current Slide - prints the current slide or notes page.
- Slides - prints the range of slides or notes pages you
specify. If you type only a beginning number, all slides or notes
pages from that slide or notes page will be printed. If you want
to print only one slide or notes page, type that slide's number
in slides box.
- Choose any additional print options you want.
- Scale To Fit Paper - scales slides automatically to fit
the paper loaded in your printer.
- Print Hidden Slides - prints all hidden slides. Otherwise,
slides marked as hidden aren't printed.
- Pure Black & White - turns all color fills to white,
all text and lines to black, adds outlines or borders to all filled
objects, and renders pictures in grayscale. This option is useful
when you want to print draft copies on a color printer or when you
want to print very readable speaker's notes and handouts.
- Black & White - turns all fills to white (or black
and white, if patterned). Unbordered objects that have no text appear
with a thin black frame.
- Additional options for Windows users:
- Print To File - "prints" the slides to a PostScript file
so they can be turned over to a service bureau to create 35mm slides
or other materials.
Print To File also allows you to print your presentation on another
printer (the high-resolution one at work, for example) without having
to install PowerPoint on it.
- Collate Copies - collates the pages when you print multiple
copies of a presentation.
- Close the Print dialog box.
