Multimedia components, such as, sound, graphics, and video can enhance your PowerPoint presentations. However, it is important to remember to use multimedia sparingly. Sound, graphics, and video files can be millions of bytes in size. This has the effect of slowing down your presentation.
You will insert a sound file in your presentation.

The Media clip Dialog Box opens.
When you insert multimedia, PowerPoint detects your computer’s multimedia capabilities. The choices vary depending your computer system. For example, if your computer does not have a sound card, the sound choices would be disabled.
Now the sound or video object is "embedded" on the slide and its icon is visible. When you get to this slide during your slide presentation the sound will play. When you click the sound icon, the sound will play.
You use the Play Settings command on the Tools menu to tell PowerPoint how and when embedded movies and sounds should be played.
The More Play Options dialog box appears.
