Publisher Menu Creating an Invitation with WordArt Next Topic

Activity 3

Objectives:

  1. Learn how to Create an Invitation.
  2. Learn how to insert WordArt in a publication.

Creating an invitation using Publisher PageWizard.

  1. Choose File / Create New Publication / Card & Invitation / OK to create an invitation to graduation.
  2. Select Special Occasion.
  3. Click Next.
  4. Select Graduation.
  5. Click Next.
  6. Select "I'll type my own text.".
  7. Click Next.
  8. For the front cover text, type
  9. You are Invited to

    Ctrl-Enter (this gives us a new line)

    Lincoln School's Graduation

  10. Click Next.
  11. For the inside text, type
  12. Welcome to

    Ctrl-Enter (this gives us a new line)

    Lincoln School's Graduation

    Ctrl-Enter (this gives us a new line)

    on May 24th

    Ctrl-Enter (this gives us a new line)

    in the Lincoln School

    Ctrl-Enter (this gives us a new line)

    Gymnasium.

  13. Click Next.
  14. For the back cover, type
  15. Made for you by Lincoln Schools

  16. Click Next.
  17. Click Create It!
  18. Click OK on the last page of the PageWizard.

Inserting WordArt in your document.

Publisher used WordArt to create text that stands out in your publication.

On your screen you should see the following Publisher screen.

The first area we will discuss is the front cover text.

  1. Click on the frame that contains the front cover text.
    A set of "handles" should appear.
  2. Double-click on the frame that contains the front cover text.

  3. The following window appears that says "Type Your Text Here".



    The following tool bar will also appear.



    1. Select an Shape.(For example, Top to Bottom)
    2. Select a Font.
    3. Select a Size.
    4. Select Bold or Italic.
    5. Select Even Height if every letter should be same height.
    6. Select Flip if text should print sideways.
    7. Select Stretch to fill area horizontally or vertically.
    8. Select Align. (Centered is default.)
    9. Select Spacing to change space between characters (kerning)
    10. Select Rotation to change rotation angles.
    11. Select Shading to change shading and color of text.
    12. Select Shadow to give shadow effects.
    13. Select Border to draw border around WordArt.

  4. Using Shading and Shadow, make the letters blue with a red shadow.
  5. Turn to page 3 of your invitation and change the WordArt for the inside text. Use the following to change your inside text.
    1. Use Curve Down
    2. Lucinda Calligraphy
    3. Best Fit
    4. Bold
    5. Stretch

Your invitation should look like the one on the next page.
