Copy / Move Files and Folders
Activity 6
Objectives:
Move
folder for geography word processing files from the Windows 95 desktop to the word-processing folder.
Copy
a file from one folder to another.
Backup
a file to floppy disk.
Steps to follow:
After undeleting your geography folder (Activity 5) you want to move it from the Windows 95 desktop back into the word-processing folder.
To Move a folder or file:
Open
Windows Explorer
Select your
Desktop
.
Select your
Geography
folder.
Drag the
Geography
folder on to your desktop.
Release
the mouse button.
You have removed your Geography folder from the Word folder.
Drag the
Geography
folder back onto the WORD folder.
You have replaced your Geography folder back into your WORD folder.

To Copy a folder or file:
Open
Windows Explorer
.
Select the
file
you created earlier and named using your initials.
(If you can’t find that file, find it using the
FIND
Activity on the next page.)
Now that you have located and selected your file, press
CTRL
while
Dragging
the file to your
Word-processing
folder.
Another way is to:
use
right mouse button
and
drag
file to new location.
Select
Copy
.

To Backup a file to your floppy disk using My Computer:
Find your MICH file in your Geography folder.
Right-click the
MICH
file you wish to back up on floppy disk.
Point to the
Se
n
d To
command
Click on the name of the
floppy drive
you wish to send the data to.
